- What is the National Cycle Touring Network -
It is a project conceived by a road project engineer and enthusiast of long and short bicycle trips, whose goal is to identify a network throughout the country with the best infrastructure for bicycle trips in slow travel mode.
- What are the Road Books of the National Cycle Touring Network -
They are touristic guides exclusively in digital PDF format (no paper edition) where the most beautiful roads with low car traffic in Portugal are identified, exclusively through satellite georeferencing, thus without the need for expensive vertical signage. Based on the existing road network including cycle paths, rails-to-trails, greenways and macadam roads, this project selects for you the best routes that take you to visit the most beautiful and surprising landscapes in the country (including cities) on roads with low car traffic.
The 2025 edition presents 10 road books, in 3 different cathegories. The pavements are mostly asphalt with some incursions on roads paved with compacted soil and thin gravel, wood or thick pavement, easy to pedal by.
