What is the National Cycle Touring Network?
It's a network of routes conceived by a road project engineer who is enthusiastic about long-distance cycling trips, whose aim is to identify a network throughout the country with the best infrastructure for cycling trips in tourism mode.
What is Road Book 2022?
It is a guide, exclusively in PDF digital format (no paper edition) that identifies the most beautiful roads with low car traffic in Portugal, identified exclusively through satellite georeferencing, without the need for expensive vertical signage. Based on the existing road network, including cycle paths, greenways, rails-to-trails and macadam roads, this project selects for you the best routes that take you to visit the most beautiful and surprising landscapes in the country.
The 2022 edition presents you with a total of 6409 km, about 80% of the 8000 km planned to be identified by 2025. The pavements are mostly in asphalt with some insurgence in roads paved with macadam, compacted soil, wood or thick pavement, easy to go through by anyone on a bike.
